Church services set for Holy Week

Carroll County churches will celebrate Easter this week with Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday worship services and activities.

Services include:

Westminster Baptist: Maundy Thursday Seder service will be at 6 p.m.; reservations are required for the meal.

The community Good Friday processional through Westminster will begin at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Bond and Green streets, and travel to Ascension Episcopal Church on North Court Street for worship at noon.

Easter Sunday services at 8: 30 a.m. and 11 a.m. will include the cantata "Behold the Risen Savior" by the adult choir. The church is at 354 Crest Lane. Information: 410-848-6330.

Jerusalem Lutheran Church: Maundy Thursday services will be at 7: 30 p.m. A Good Friday Tenebrae service will be at 7: 30 p.m. An Easter Sunday sunrise service will be held at 6: 30 a.m. Regular Easter worship will be at 9: 30 a.m. and Sunday school at 10: 30 a.m. The church is at 1372 Bachman Valley Road at Bixler's Church Road in Westminster. Trinity Evangelical Lutheran: A Lenten potluck supper will be held at 6 p.m. and worship at 7 p.m. Wednesday. A Maundy Thursday service of absolution and Holy Communion will be held at noon. A Seder service will be at 7: 30 p.m. Thursday.

A service of the Stations of the Cross will be offered at 7: 30 p.m. Good Friday. A service of the Great Vigil of Easter will begin at 8: 30 p.m. Saturday. A festival worship celebrating the Resurrection will be held Easter Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. The church is at 38 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown. Information: 410-751-1203.

St. Paul's United Methodist Church: An Easter sunrise service will be held at 7 a.m. Sunday at Lions Park in New Windsor. An Easter egg hunt for children will be held during Sunday school at 9: 15 a.m. The church is at 200 Main St., New Windsor. Information: 410-635-2442 or 410-848-0706.

Uniontown Bible: A Good Friday worship with Communion will be held at 7 p.m. Easter Sunday worship will be at 8: 30 a.m. and 11 a.m. with the message "Christ's Punishment is Our Peace." New Windsor Presbyterian: The Greater Pipe Creek Ministerium will sponsor a community Good Friday worship service from noon to 2 p.m. The "Seven Words from the Cross" will be covered in 15-minute segments from area pastors. The church is hTC at Church and High streets. Information: 410-848-0573.

Grace United Methodist: Holy Thursday worship with Communion will be held at 7: 30 p.m. An Easter Sunday Sunrise Service will be held at 6: 30 a.m. Easter celebration will be at 11 a.m. Sunday school will be at 9: 45 a.m. The church is at 4618

Greenmount United Methodist: Maundy Thursday worship will be at 7: 30 p.m. Good Friday worship will be offered at 7: 30 p.m. Easter Sunday worship begins with a sunrise service at 6: 30 a.m. An Easter breakfast will be at 7: 30 a.m. Sunday school will be at 8: 45 a.m. and an Easter celebration service at 9: 30 a.m. The church is at 2001 Hanover Pike. Lazarus United Church of Christ: A joint Maundy Thursday service will be held at 6: 30 p.m., starting with soup and bread and worship at 7: 30 p.m. The message, "Table Talk," will be followed by Holy Communion. The Good Friday service will be a joint Tenebrae worship at 7: 30 p.m. The Lutheran and United Church of Christ congregations will participate in both joint services.

Easter Sunday worship will be at 10 a.m. with the sermon "We Serve A Living Savior" and Holy Communion. Music will be provided by the adult choir, Gospel Gang and intermediate and junior Chiming Christian Bell choirs. The church is at 5101 S. Church St., Lineboro. Information: 410-374-1304.
