Dallas veteran named manager, director at WMAR-TV

WMAR-TV has chosen Drew Berry for the position of station manager/news director. A 20-year veteran of broadcast news, he was the assistant news director at WFAA-TV in Dallas prior to coming to the local ABC network affiliate. The Emmy award-winning newscaster is a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin.

Kelly-Springfield names VP for tire technology

Kelly-Springfield Tire Co., the Cumberland-headquartered subsidiary of Goodyear, named John Bauer as vice president of tire technology. Bauer, who joined Goodyear as a trainee in 1966, has degrees in engineering and finance.

Brown becomes manager for maintenance firm

Action Building Maintenance appointed Jim Brown as manager. With over 25 years in the building maintenance field, he was most recently a supervisor for the Baltimore offices of Rentokil Environmental Services prior to joining the Pikesville-based janitorial service.

Riggin, Kendig appointed at MMA agency

MMA Public Relations & Advertising announced the appointments of John Riggin as director of Internet services and Gregory Kendig as an assistant account executive for the Baltimore-based firm.

Riggin, formerly manager of corporate communications for DIGEX, the Beltsville-based national Internet carrier, the Harvard graduate will aid in the expansion and development of the agency's Internet business. Kendig, a recent graduate of Johns Hopkins University, will be assigned to project support for the firm's account executives.

MalisGoldstromHopson Advertising has chosen Alyce Heather Kirk as executive vice president for professional services marketing for the Pikesville-based agency. She was formerly an associate and vice president with DRBrasher Architects. Active in the Society for Marketing Professional Services, she is president of the Maryland chapter. She is also active in the Executive Women's Network, the Howard County Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the advisory board of Maryland Builder magazine.

Banking and finance

Osgood in Easton for Ferris Baker Watts

Ferris Baker Watts announced that Alfred M. Osgood Jr. has joined the brokerage and investment firm as vice president of investments at its Easton office. A graduate of George Washington School of Business and the Northwestern University Graduate Trust School, the Marine veteran lives in Oxford. A yachtsman, he belongs to the Chesapeake Bay and Tred Avon yacht clubs and is active in Talbot County professional and civic organizations, including the United Way.

Legal and insurance

White to assist Blue Cross president

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maryland named Elliott Neal White special assistant to the president. He will represent the president's office as an external liaison and coordinate and manage daily administrative matters. The University of Maryland graduate has a master's degree in hospital administration from George Washington University and most recently was chief operating officer of Glass Health Systems.

Franklin Square Hospital Center announced the following vice presidential appointments at the Helix Health facility: Robert Lally Jr., finance and chief financial officer, and Yolanda Copeland, patient care services.

Lally, formerly with Harbor Hospital Center, is a certified public accountant and business administration graduate of the Tennessee Technological University, will advise the management on financial issues and oversee daily operations of admissions, patient registration, budget and patient and general accounting.

Copeland will have responsibility for all patient care units and related departments, including health education and pharmacy. The nursing graduate of Towson State University has completed the master's program in management/healthcare administration at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. She previously was a vice president at Harbor Hospital Center.

Professional

Stout, Causey & Horning names Thomas as manager

Stout, Causey & Horning, a Cockeysville-based accounting firm, named Robin D. Thomas as manager. She will oversee the compensation and benefits and corporate tax areas. The Lutherville resident is a graduate of the University of Delaware and a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants.
