March 22, 1997|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Howard County police charged a Columbia man last night with first-degree murder after they found his 23-year-old stepson, a Marine, fatally wounded at the older man's home.

Police responded about 2: 15 p.m. to a 911 call from a home in the 10100 block of Gooden Circle and found Andre Dante Boone of Northern Virginia lying at the bottom of a stairwell.

Boone was pronounced dead of a shotgun wound at Howard County General Hospital, police said. It was the first slaying this year in Howard County.

James Milton Harding Jr., 39, was charged with killing his stepson. He was being held last night at the Howard County Northern District station.
