Decision on Weller's status may not come until next week Officials meet with coach, team, but have no comment

COLLEGE PARK -- A decision on whether Maryland women's basketball coach Chris Weller will return may not come until after students return from spring break at the end of next week.

Athletic department officials met again with players yesterday, then convened a 20-minute meeting in the team's locker room with the team and Weller last night before the parties dispersed around 6: 30 p.m.

None of the participants provided comment, but sources said the players were told the matter would be decided during spring vacation, which begins after classes today.

Weller declined to comment on the matter and on recent stories regarding her current and previous conduct, saying she would wait for the process to conclude.

Six players presented school officials with a list of complaints about Weller and her coaching staff two weeks ago, and members of the athletic department began investigating their complaints this week.

Meanwhile, athletic department sources say longtime assistant coach Belinda "Boe" Pearman will leave the school to seek a career in the Women's NBA. She could not be reached to comment.
