Hampstead mayor gets economic panel seat

March 17, 1997

Hampstead Mayor Christopher M. Nevin has been appointed to the county's Economic Development Commission.

Nevin said he sought a panel seat because he wants the town to have a voice in the development of its land zoned for industrial use, particularly the 400-acre North Carroll Business Park.

"We have the largest industrial piece of ground within the county," Nevin said. "I thought it was important that somebody from Hampstead be involved on the commission."

Nevin said he was appointed to one of two seats on the commission reserved for representatives from the Carroll Chapter of the Maryland Municipal League. The Board of County Commissioners selected members based on recommendations from the league.
