Salisbury lands berth in final 8 of Division III Robinson basket brings 79-78 win over Brockport

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- George Robinson's layup after an offensive rebound with 20 seconds left gave Salisbury State a 79-78 win over SUNY Brockport (N.Y.) yesterday and a spot in the final eight of the NCAA Division III men's basketball tournament.

The Sea Gulls (25-3) scored the last six points of the game, and survived three desperate shots from Brockport's Jay Adams (19 points) in the closing seconds.

Randy Clark led Salisbury State with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Brockport (19-10) was led by Shawn Brown's 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Salisbury State, which advanced to the final eight one other time in 1992, will face Alvernia (Pa.) College tonight at 7: 30 in the tournament quarterfinals. Alvernia defeated Rochester Tech, 77-71.
