Police officers from Howard County's narcotics unit arrested a 19-year-old Bethesda man, seizing 20 pounds of marijuana that police say has an estimated street value of $52,000.

Sam Majidi of the 10100 block of Crestberry Place was arrested in the parking lot of the Cherry Tree Shopping Center in Scaggsville at 4 p.m. Wednesday, a report said, as he was allegedly attempting to sell drugs. The shopping center adjoins the county police department's Southern District headquarters.

Majidi was charged with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute.

Police said no other arrests were made.

Sgt. Steven Keller, a police spokesman, said narcotics detectives witnessed a drug deal after receiving an anonymous tip.

Majidi was being held at the Howard County Detention Center on $10,000 bail.
