Funds OK'd to make Town Hall more accessible for the disabled

The Hampstead Town Council voted Tuesday to spend an additional $40,000 to pay for improvements to Town Hall, as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

L Last year, the council allocated $25,000 toward the project.

Renovations will include a wheelchair ramp at the front entrance to Town Hall, a wheelchair-accessible council table and modifications to bathrooms.

Construction is expected to begin next week, with completion in two months, said Neil Ridgely, town manager. During that time, most town meetings will be held at Hampstead Volunteer Fire Department, 1341 N. Main St.
