Man charged with drug dealing in park

Complaints by area residents that drugs were being sold from park benches near a community playground led to the arrest of a Harmans man Tuesday, authorities said.

Residents in the Still Meadows neighborhood called police shortly before noon and told officers that two men sitting on park benches near the playground between Blue Jay Court and Jacobs Road were selling drugs.

The men began running as Officers Michelle McBride and Herbert Hasenpusch approached them, but one of them -- who was holding his right jacket pocket as he fled -- was caught and arrested, police said.

Found in his pocket were two packages of what later tested positive for crack cocaine, police said. The officers also confiscated $100 found in a rear pants pocket.

Dwight Christopher Martin Jr., 18, of the 1400 block of Gesna Drive, was charged with possession of crack cocaine.
