A sweep through Mount Hebron High School by Howard County police earlier this week resulted in three arrests on charges of marijuana possession and other violations.

Sgt. Steven Keller, a police spokesman, said officers from the county's Street Drug Section went through the school building and parking lot Monday with two dogs trained to detect drugs.

One student, a 17-year-old boy from Ellicott City, will be charged as a juvenile with possession of marijuana, tobacco products and fireworks which were found in his car, a police report said.

Police also arrested 18-year-old Kare Thomas Preshool of Woodbine, who was charged with possessing 2 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Catherine Louise Golding, 18, of Ellicott City was charged with possessing marijuana.

Three Howard High School students were arrested in mid-January and charged with drug violations when police swept through that school for the second time this year, police said.

Keller said school officials and the county Department of Education requested Monday's search.
