Spring break

March 12, 1997|By Roch Eric Kubatko

What the Orioles did yesterday: Took advantage of another strong effort from right-hander Mike Mussina and the wildness of Philadelphia reliever Edgar Ramos to defeat the Phillies, 7-6.

What the Orioles will do today: Try not to scream when they look at the schedule and see another game with the Montreal Expos. The teams will be playing for the fifth time. The Orioles have won the first four, totaling 35 runs. Left-hander Jimmy Key will start, followed by Rule 5 draft choice Mike Johnson, Alan Mills, Arthur ++ Rhodes and Armando Benitez.

You know it's spring training when: Two weeks pass before the Orioles play their first night game. They were under the lights at Fort Lauderdale Stadium last night after 12 day games.
