9-year-old killed in hit-run accident

A 9-year-old boy died last night of injuries he suffered when he was struck by a car in a hit-and-run accident in West Baltimore, police said.

Police said Kevin Wiggins of the 1000 block of Riggs Ave. was crossing the 900 block of N. Gilmor St. at 6: 42 p.m. when he was struck by a white 1988 Oldsmobile and dragged 50 to 100 feet.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop.

Kevin was taken first to Bon Secours Hospital, then transferred to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died about 9: 30 p.m., police said.

Police were questioning the owner of the car last night and were searching for the driver and the vehicle, which has Maryland tags RTH306.
