McCormick names Kuhns vice president

McCormick & Co., based in Hunt Valley, announced that David E. Kuhns has been selected as vice president, grocery sales for its McCormick/Schilling division. A graduate of Hempfield High School in Greensberg, Pa., he joined the international spice and flavors house in 1966 as a sales representative. The Ellicott City resident is active in several professional organizations, including the Mid-Atlantic Food Dealers Association.

Walker named controller at 1st Urban Fiber

1st Urban Fiber, headquartered in Hagerstown, appointed Steven Walker as controller. Prior to joining the de-inking and paper pulp maker, he was assistant controller for the Maryland division of Supervalu. A certified public accountant, he resides in Martinsburg and is active in several accounting associations.

Charping now associate at D.B. Riley & Associates

D. B. Riley & Associates, Baltimore-based management consultants, announced that Laura Charping joined the firm as an associate. She will oversee market, public relations and administrative management for the firm's Executive Forum program. Recently with the Ryland Group, she has expertise in public relations, marketing and human resources, and is a member of the Baltimore Public Relations Council.

Rosse & Associates appoints Herrick

Rosse & Associates announced the appointment of Joseph F. Herrick III as vice president-associate creative director for the Baltimore county marketing and public relations firm. Before joining the Sparks-based agency, he was senior art director for Trahan, Burden & Charles. A recipient of the Clio and numerous Addy awards, he has more than 25 years of experience in the advertising-design business.

Geisel group manager at Provident Bank

Provident Bank of Maryland appointed Gary N. Geisel as group manager, community banking. The 27-year banker will oversee the community banking and marketing divisions. An MBA graduate of Duquesne, he was an executive vice president with Citizens Bank before joining Provident. A resident of Severna Park, he is active in the Maryland Bankers Association and the Community Clinic.
