Hopkins women roll, 64-57, move into Division III Sweet 16

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Julie Anderson had 23 points and 15 rebounds as Johns Hopkins turned back Elizabethtown, 64-57, yesterday in the second round of the NCAA Division III women's tournament.

The Blue Jays (24-4) advanced to face Western Connecticut State (25-4) on Friday in the Sweet 16. Southern Maine (25-3) meets Scranton (26-3) in the other Mid-Atlantic semifinal.

Elizabethtown (21-8) trailed by as many as 13 points in the second half but cut the deficit to 54-52 with 7: 02 to play. Hopkins tightened up defensively and held Elizabethtown to five points the rest of the way.

The Blue Jays shot 28 percent (9-for-32) in the second half.

Angie Arnold had 14 points and six assists, and Marhjanna Segers added eight points and 10 rebounds for the Blue Jays.

Shauntae Stancil led Elizabethtown with 18 points.
