Businessman elected chairman of bank board

The Taneytown Bank & Trust Company's board of directors has elected Eric E. Glass as chairman of the board and Donald R. Hull as vice chairman and executive committee chairman.

Glass and Hull work together as the bank's leadership. Under this new arrangement, the two will rotate their positions annually.

Glass has been a bank director for 17 years. He owns the Taney Supply and Lumber Corp. and is chairman of the board of Taney Corp.

Hull joined the bank 18 years ago as a director and is owner of Hull Company Accountants in Westminster. He also is chairman of the Carroll County Community Foundation. Long & Foster Real Estate has announced its top sales associates around the county for January.

Eldersburg: Jay Hull was top producer and seller. Debbie Barnes and Terri Gutcher were top listers and the agents with the most new listings.

Hampstead: Paul Steger was top producer and seller. Fran Sturgill was top lister and agent with the most new listings.

Westminster: Jennifer Glass was top producer, seller and the agent with the most new listings. Bob Jarboe was top lister.

Mount Airy vineyard wins silver medals for two wines

Elk Run Vineyards in Mount Airy recently earned two silver medals in the Wine Enthusiasts World Wine Championship.

The vineyard won with its 1995 Liberty Tavern Reserve Chardonnay, scoring 89; and with its 1994 Elk Run Chardonnay, scoring 83. It also took a gold medal in the New World Wine competition.

In the past 15 years, Elk Run has earned 10 gold, 11 silver and 15 bronze medals in competitions.
