Two children believed to be missing from an Oakland Mills village apartment complex were found unharmed Thursday night after an intensive search, Howard County police said.

Police searched the area around the 9300 block of Basket Ring Road on foot and in a helicopter for two hours before finding the missing 5-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy at 10 p.m. in a basement laundry room in the Dorsey Forge Apartments in Oakland Mills.

Sgt. Steven Keller, a police spokesman, said the children accidentally locked themselves in the room.
