Patterson rides 30 by Hyman past Dulaney Freshman Ficher has 26 in Perry Hall victory over L. Clifton, 73-59

Senior star Anita Hyman had 30 points and six assists to lead host Patterson (15-9) over Dulaney (5-13), 65-53, in a state Class 4A North region quarterfinal last night.

Patterson and Northwestern will meet in a region semifinal tomorrow.

Perry Hall 73, Lake Clifton 59: Freshman Amanda Ficher scored 26 points and Alyssa Phoebus added a double-double with 20 points and 17 rebounds as the Gators (6-15) rolled to victory in a 4A North quarterfinal game. Perry Hall and Western meet in a region semifinal tomorrow.

Northwestern 75, Southwestern 51: Nicole Eades had a game-high 23 points and eight rebounds to lead the Wildcats (19-4) to victory in a 4A North quarterfinal game. Shenika Sumpter had 22 points for the host Sabers.

Sparrows Point 34, Elkton 32: Heather Lucas scored the winning basket with 4.5 seconds remaining as Sparrows Point (11-9) edged host Elkton in a 1A North quarterfinal. Sparrows Point and Havre de Grace meet in the region semifinal tomorrow.

The Pointers came back from an eight-point halftime deficit. Lucas and Jenee Tyson each scored 14 points.

North East 72, Owings Mills 41: Mindy Fortune and Katie Davis each scored 26 points as North East (18-4) won a quarterfinal game of the 2A North playoffs. North East and North Harford play in a region semifinal tomorrow.

Brunswick 48, Hereford 36: Julie Foltz scored 17 points to lead the Railroaders (18-4) over the host Bulls (9-13) in a 1A South quarterfinal. Jessica Fisher had a game-high 18 points for Herford.

Hammond 55, Surrattsville 36: Chrystal Todd scored 19 and Rene Hines added 16 as No. 12 Hammond (20-4) topped visiting Surrattsville in a 2A South quarterfinal. The Bears held a 32-14 halftime lead. Hammond will play at Glenelg in a region semifinal tomorrow.

Glenelg 66, Forestville 34: Four players scored in double figures, led by Chris Brust's 14 points as the Gladiators (13-11) defeated winless and host Forestville (0-19) in a 2A South quarterfinal. Stephanie Howell added 12 points for Glenelg, while Shana Wyant and Camey Brian each had 11 points.

River Hill 65, Catoctin 30: Lauren Martin's 25 points helped the host Hawks (9-15) to a 1A South quarterfinal win. River Hill and Brunswick will meet in a region semifinal tomorrow.

F.S. Key 54, Long Reach 49: Stephanie Stambaugh and Cindy Sheedy combined for 33 points as the Eagles (20-2) beat the host Lightning in a 1A South quarterfinal. Thandi Howell led Long Reach with 16 points. F.S. Key and Urbana meet in a region semifinal tomorrow.

South Carroll 69, Kennedy 52: Senior guard Shannan Henley scored 28 points and played a solid all-round game and South Carroll broke open a tight game when it scored on 11 of its first 12 possessions of the second half to get past host Kennedy in a Class 3A West region quarterfinal.

Meade 75, Calvert 46: Angie Creek had a game-high 20 points to lead the host and No. 14 Mustangs (22-3) in a 4A South quarterfinal game yesterday. Meade will meet Northern-Calvert in a region semifinal game tomorrow.

Boys

Long Reach 64, F.S. Key 44: Chris Smith had 21 points and Devin Conwell added 16 points and 10 rebounds as the host Lightning (8-13) won a 1A South quarterfinal game. Long Reach will meet Boonsboro in a region semifinal game today .

Brunswick 70, Hereford 47: Tim Peregoy scored 17 but Hereford lost to visiting Brunswick in a 1A South quarterfinal game.

Thomas Johnson 77, Liberty 53: Terence Morris had 15 points as Thomas Johnson downed visiting Liberty in a 3A West quarterfinal. Frank Campanella had 16 points, including four three-pointers, and Jeff Wharton added 14 for Liberty.
