NASCAR: Fined Winston Cup drivers Chad Little $10,000 and Robby Gordon $5,000 for rough driving at end of Pontiac Excitement 400 Sunday at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway.


Royals: Agreed to terms on one-year contracts with OF Yamil Benitez and OF Jon Nunnally.


Hawks: Released G Donnie Boyce.

Nets: Activated C Yinka Dare from injured list. Placed C Jayson Williams on injured list.

76ers: Placed F/C Adrian Caldwell on injured list. Activated C/F Mark Bradtke.


Atlantic 10 Conference: Named sophomore G Shawnta Rogers (Lake Clifton) to All-Defensive team.

Dayton: Announced resignation of Dwayne Shaffer, men's soccer coach.

Johns Hopkins: Senior Matt Gorman and junior Greg Roehrig (Johns Hopkins) were named to GTE Academic All-America College Division District II basketball first team. Senior Ryan Peterson was named to second team.

Rose-Hulman: Named Brenda Davis women's basketball coach.

Western Carolina: Announced Gary Peters will step down as women's basketball coach.

Broncos: Named Ricky Porter offensive assistant coach.

Chargers: Signed S Mike Dumas, LB Chris Cowart, DT Junior Soli and S Gerome Williams to one-year contracts.
