County police arrested a 16-year-old Annapolis High School student Monday on charges of pulling a loaded gun on another student.

Cortez Marquis Carlisle, of the 100 block of Colton Ave. in Largo was charged as an adult with illegal possession of a handgun and first degree assault. He was released on $15,000 bond.

Police said the youth bumped into a 17-year-old boy in the hallway of the school in the 2700 block of Riva Road about 10 a.m. The older boy, who thought the bump was intentional, kicked the younger boy's book bag in retaliation, police said.

The 17-year-old then followed the younger boy into a classroom, where the younger boy turned, reached into his jacket and pulled out a silver semiautomatic handgun, police said. The older student left the classroom and went to the main office to report the incident, and the gunman followed him for a short distance holding his hand inside his jacket, police said.

School administrators called police who arrested the boy, searched him, and found a silver .25-caliber handgun, containing three rounds of ammunition, police said.

Police said the boy, who was staying with a relative in the 100 block of Granada St. in Annapolis, told them he found the handgun in the woods near a middle school in Largo where he was playing basketball last weekend.
