Mount Airy man arrested on cocaine charges

A Mount Airy man, one of 15 people indicted in alleged drug offenses in Westminster, was arrested Friday at a residence near the city, police said.

Police said officers made numerous drug purchases during a three-month undercover operation that began in October. Thirteen of those charged have been arrested; two have moved from the area, police said.

Richard A. Tyler, 26, of the 4700 block of Old Mill Bottom Road, was charged with two counts of possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, two counts of possession of crack cocaine, two counts of distribution of cocaine and conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

Tyler was being held at the Carroll County Detention Center on $10,000 bail, police said.

Fire

Reese: Firefighters responded at 11: 04 p.m. Saturday to investigate a report of smoke in the 1000 block of Old Westminster Pike. Units were out 30 minutes.

Westminster: Firefighters from New Windsor assisted Westminster at 6: 04 p.m. Friday, responding to a natural gas leak in the 700 block of Mulligan Lane. Units were out 55 minutes.

Westminster: Firefighters from Reese assisted Westminster at 2: 25 p.m. Friday, responding to a fire alarm in the 400 block of N. Center St. Units were out three minutes.
