A Howard County man was killed Saturday when he ran a stop sign in his Jeep and his vehicle was struck by a car, county police said.

Police said Thomas Percy Holland, 34, of the 8200 block of Northview Court in Laurel was driving south on Turf Valley Road about 11 p.m. Saturday when he drove through the intersection while trying to cross U.S. 40 and his vehicle was struck by a westbound Plymouth Neon driven by Donna Prestia, 35, of the 20000 block of Placid Lake Terrace in Germantown, Montgomery County.

Holland was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Prestia and her two children were treated for minor injuries.
