Morgan's run in 2nd half trips Howard, 83-80

WASHINGTON -- Tremaine Byrd scored 15 of his 20 points and Rasheed Sparks 14 of his 18 in the second half to help Morgan State defeat Howard, 83-80, yesterday.

It was the regular-season finale for both Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference teams.

Morgan State (9-17, 8-10) put the game away with an 11-2 run midway through the second half that gave it a 58-44 lead with 10: 41 left. Byrd scored eight points during that run.

Howard (7-19, 7-11) cut the margin to 63-58 with 6: 24 remaining, but Sparks scored seven during a 9-2 spurt that made the score 72-60.

Eric Dedmon scored a career-high 31 for the Bison.
