A 29-year-old Glen Burnie man was killed in a hit-and-run car accident early yesterday while crossing Mountain Road near Mansion House Crossing in Pasadena on foot, Anne Arundel County police said.

Brian James Beacom had left Lightning Jacks Bar -- where he had been with his fiancee, Michele Spicknall -- minutes after midnight when he was hit by what is thought to have been a minivan being driven east.

Police said Beacom died of severe head injuries. Witnesses told police that it did not appear the vehicle was traveling above the 40 mph limit in the 2800 block of Mountain Road.

"Pedestrian error appears to be the preliminary cause," said Officer Alfred Barcenas Jr.

"It was definitely alcohol-related because of the strong odor of liquor" on Beacom's breath, Barcenas said.

Beacom was pronounced dead at North Arundel Hospital at 12: 29 a.m.

Witnesses described the vehicle as either light and dark brown or light blue.
