Peace Lutheran plans World Prayer Day events

EVERYONE IS invited to participate in an ecumenical service and meal at the World Day of Prayer at 11 a.m. Friday. Peace Lutheran Church, 416 Wellham Ave., Ferndale, will be the host church.

This year's theme is "Like a Seed Which Grows into a Tree." Child care will not be provided.

After the prayer service, there will be a potluck luncheon in the church hall. Each person is asked to provide a covered dish to serve four.

Donations of nonperishable food will be collected for the North County Emergency Outreach Network's food bank.

AARP to meet

Linthicum Chapter No. 2244 of the American Association of Retired Persons will meet Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church, 300 Maple Road in Linthicum.

The board will meet at 11: 30 a.m. The Lincoln Financial Group will present a program at 1 p.m. A business meeting will follow. The meeting is the deadline for paying membership dues.

'Pot O' Gold Night'

The Linthicum Rotary Club's second annual "Pot O' Gold Night" St. Patrick's Day celebration has been scheduled at 7 p.m. March 14 at the Rose Restaurant, 6075 Belle Grove Road in Linthicum.

The dinner will benefit the Chesapeake Hospice House in Linthicum, a nonprofit agency that provides care to the terminally ill in Anne Arundel County.

The evening includes dinner, drinks, a silent auction, door prizes, raffles and a disc jockey, "The Hit Man."

Craft workers sought

Vendors and craft workers are needed for the indoor Craft Show and Flea Market sponsored by the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America of St. John Lutheran Church from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 12 at the church, 300 West Maple Road.

Spaces are available at $12.50 each, but you'll have to bring your own table.

Herb Club meeting

The Friendly Thyme Herb Club will meet at 10 a.m. Friday at the Linthicum Senior Center, 7205 Baltimore & Annapolis Blvd.

Member Lola Zabetakis will present a demonstration on how to make a wall basket from herbs.

Seats are still available on the club's bus trip, Garden Tour of North Carolina, from May 12 to 15. The public is invited.

Anyone who enjoys gardens, as well as history, will like this trip.
