Children's story time to begin at library

SPRING INTO stories with story time at the Brooklyn Park Library, 1 E. 11th Ave. Story time will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m. Wednesdays, beginning this week.

Children ages 2 to 6 are invited to celebrate spring with stories, music and crafts.

Free tax help

Free income tax assistance is available for seniors at Brooklyn Park Senior Site in the old Brooklyn Park High School on Hammonds Lane. The help is for relatively simple tax returns.

Appointments must be made by calling Yvonne Hicis at 222-6714.

Church flea markets

Attention flea marketeers:

Resurrection Lutheran Church, 601 Hammonds Lane, will sponsor a flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

rTC Table spaces are available for rent by calling 789-8372 or 789-4316.

The church school of Brooklyn Heights United Methodist Church, 110 Townsend Ave., will hold a flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12.

Tables can be rented for $10. Information: 789-3688.

'It's Academic' club

North County High School News:

Thanks to the support of the PTSA and the Student Government Association, the "It's Academic" club bought an eight-person buzzer system last spring to help with practice sessions for the scholastic television quiz show.

Since then, the group has participated in several small competitions and placed second in a recent taping of the "It's Academic" show, missing only one question.

John Kim, Ivy Liu and John Payne are on the team that taped the show. Alternates are Will Cartee, Kevin Ebersole, Erin McIntier, Holly McIntire, Brandy Taylor and Jeff Zimmerman.

Lenten observances

Brooklyn Heights United Methodist Church, 110 Townsend Ave., holding Sunday Soup Supper Programs during Lent. Today's program, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., is "Healing the Demons Within."

St. John's Lutheran Church, 226 Washburn Ave., will have Lenten services at 7 p.m. Wednesdays.

Hospital photo exhibit

Harbor Hospital Center News:

The hospital is sponsoring a photo exhibit called "Medicine's Great Journey: One Hundred Years of Healing," in recognition of the LifeCourse Center opening.
