DEATHS ELSEWHERE

March 02, 1997

C. Brooks Peters, 84, a reporter who covered the outbreak of World War II from Berlin for the New York Times, died Thursday at his apartment in Manhattan. He covered the early days of the war with a vivid style, producing some of the coverage that helped the Times win a Pulitzer Prize for foreign reporting in 1941.

Lois Marshall, 72, a leading Canadian soprano in the 1950s and 60s, died on Feb. 19 at Women's College Hospital in Toronto. She lived in Toronto. The cause was complications from exploratory cancer surgery, her family said.
