Courses at college address issues of personal growth

Two noncredit continuing education classes at Anne Arundel Community College this spring offer opportunities for personal growth.

"Assertiveness Training" meets from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 4 through April 8 on the Arnold campus.

The course increases awareness of strengths, competencies and social abilities.

Class discussions cover ways to clarify differences between nonassertive, assertive and aggressive behavior and ways to attain verbal skills to enhance personal and business relationships.

The cost of the course is $50.

The "Managing Emotions" course deals with how to master frequency, intensity and duration of such feelings as frustration, anger, anxiety, guilt, jealousy and depression.

The classes will address improving the quality of a person's life by using rational-emotive behavior therapy principles.

Classes meet from 6: 30 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 5 through April 2 at Glen Burnie Town Center. The cost is $54.
