Man steals woman's ATM money as she flees

A Laurel woman fled from a man who approached her as she was using an automated teller machine Friday, leaving her money in the machine.

L The man fled with an undisclosed amount, county police said.

Amy Ridenour, 37, told police she was withdrawing money from a machine at Citizens National Bank in the 3300 block of Route 198 shortly before 8 p.m. when a man wearing a stocking cap approached her.

Ridenour ran to her car, and the man took her money from the machine and fled.

Police did not have a description of the man.

Police arrest three men in prostitution sting

County police arrested three men on prostitution-related charges Friday during a sting operation in Bacontown.

Stanley E. Jones, 39, of no fixed address; Michael Spencer Morgan, 49, of the 3500 block of Whiskey Bottom Road in Laurel; and Paul I. Washington, 31, of the 3000 block of Lost Creek Blvd. in Laurel were charged with soliciting sex.

The men were arrested shortly about 5 p.m. after allegedly offering money for sex to undercover officers posing as prostitutes.

Police set up the operation in response to citizens' complaints of prostitution and open drug dealing in Bacontown.

It was one of several sting operation police are planning.
