Woman, 67, dies after son backs truck over her at landfill

A Woodbine woman who was injured Thursday when a pickup truck driven by her son backed over her at the county's Northern Landfill died that day of internal injuries at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, state police said.

Norma L. Keen, 67, of the 7400 block of Woodbine Road had gotten out of the truck to guide her son, Charles W. Keen, 28, as he backed up toward trash containers.

Charles Keen told troopers that he lost sight of her as he backed up. He was not charged.

Fire

Winfield: Firefighters from Sykesville and Gamber assisted Winfield at 9: 38 a.m. Friday, responding to a chimney fire on Klees Mill Road. Units were out 50 minutes.

Winfield: Firefighters responded at 12: 35 p.m. Friday to a brush fire on Bartholow Road. Units were out 23 minutes.
