Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Howard County.

Ellicott City: 6700 block of Old Waterloo Road: Someone broke into a house Wednesday by removing a window screen and prying open a bedroom window; a stereo, videocassette recorder and television were stolen. In a related incident, someone attempted to break into a house in the same block, but were unable to pry open a rear window. No entry was gained.

Elkridge: 13500 block of Highland Road: A robber broke into a house through a bay window Wednesday and set off a motion detector. By the time police arrived, the intruder had fled without taking anything.

Kings Contrivance: 7500 block of Lilac Sea: Someone attempted to break into a house Wednesday after removing a sliding glass door from its track, but no entry was gained.

10320 block of Daystar Court: A robber broke into a house Tuesday or Wednesday through a sliding glass door. Savings bonds and a telephone were stolen.

North Laurel-Savage

North Laurel: 10000 block of U.S. 1: A silver, two-door 1984 Nissan Sentra was stolen Sunday or Monday.

Western Howard

Highland: 6400 block of Haviland Mill Road: Someone attempted to break into a house Wednesday through a front window.
