February 21, 1997

A Woodbine woman was severely injured yesterday when a pickup truck, driven by her son, backed over her at the county's Northern Landfill, state police said.

Norma Lee Keen, 67, was in critical condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Police said the woman was helping her son guide the vehicle backward toward trash containers when he lost sight of her.

The accident occurred about 1 p.m.

A state police MedEvac helicopter was in the Westminster area and quickly responded to the accident at the landfill, off Route 140 in Westminster, police said.

The woman's son, Charles W. Keen, 28, was not charged in the accident.
