Senior forward Daeviid St. Rose scored a game-high 20 points in his final home game to lead Western Maryland over Johns Hopkins, 79-70, in a Centennial Conference game last night in Westminster.
St. Rose, who was honored in a pre-game ceremony for going over the 1,000-point career mark in a win over Gettysburg on Friday, made eight of 12 shots from the field.
Western Maryland (11-12, 6-6) held Johns Hopkins (16-7, 9-3) scoreless for a stretch of 7: 35.
Junior forward Greg Roehrig topped Johns Hopkins with 16 points.
Johns Hopkins and Dickinson are tied for the Centennial-Western Division lead. The two teams meet in the regular-season finale and the division title Saturday at Dickinson.
Women
Monmouth 73, Mount St. Mary's 61: Jen Brzucki had 26 points and a career-best 18 rebounds as Monmouth (13-11, 10-6) beat visiting Mount St. Mary's (13-11, 8-8) in a Northeast Conference game.
