Thieves steal air bags from 4 cars in Crofton

Thieves broke into four parked Toyota Camrys overnight Friday in Crofton, disconnected the batteries and stole air bags, county police said.

Residents in the 1000 block of Broderick Court, the 1000 block of Shreve Court and the 1100 block of Soho Court reported thefts of the air bags, each valued at about $1,000, police said.

In each case, the thieves broke the driver's-side rear-vent window, unlocked the door and disconnected the battery to keep the air bags from deploying while removing them from the steering wheel, police said.
