Ferry traffic between Sandy Point in Anne Arundel County and Matapeake increased 37 percent last year. Passenger cars totaled 30,772; trucks and buses, 5,150, and passengers, 65,057. -- The Sun, Jan. 5, 1947.

More than 350 residents held a stormy meeting over a proposed Naval Academy airport at Sandy Point. -- The Sun, Jan. 8, 1947.

The Senate Rules Committee announced it will supervise a recount of the recent Maryland Senatorial election in Anne Arundel County, investigating alleged voting irregularities in an election decided by less than 2,500 votes. -- The Sun, Jan. 10, 1947.
