Jessup inmate flees his work-release job

February 16, 1997

A convicted robber on work-release was reported missing yesterday in Howard County, state police said.

Jerome Rustin, 31, who had been held at the Jessup prerelease facility since September, walked off his job at a Columbia service station about 9: 30 a.m., police said.

Rustin, formerly of Bowie, was convicted of robbery with a deadly weapon in 1983. He had served 13 years of a 20-year sentence and was to be paroled in August, according to Maxine Eldridge, spokeswoman for the state Division of Correction.
