Laurel's live card is snowed out

February 09, 1997|By Kent Baker

Live racing was canceled at Laurel Park because of the snowfall yesterday and will be resumed today.

The feature, the $60,000 Jameela Stakes, was transferred to next Saturday's undercard. That program headlines the Grade II, $200,000 Barbara Fritchie Handicap for fillies and mares.

Assault John and Weather Vane are expected to be the favorites in the Jameela.

Weight assignments for the Fritchie and the Feb. 17 Grade II, $200,000 General George for male horses are due today.

Laurel did handle wagering on simulcast races from seven locations yesterday.
