FOLKS AT River Hill High School are very proud of the athletes and coach who won First Team All-County selections in The Sun.

Earth science teacher and soccer coach Bill Stara won All-Metro Coach of the Year. He guided the Hawks to a statewide second-place finish in their fledging year.

Having no seniors at the new school -- which opened in August -- made his feat even more impressive.

Adding to his accolades, the National Federation of Interscholastic Sports just named Stara its Soccer Coach of the Year.

River Hill student athletes Caitlin Bair and Kathy Gaertner made the All-County Girls' Soccer first team.

Holly Gick was on the All-County first team in field hockey.

Mike Kelly and Beau Pich made the football All-County first team, and runners Kelli Bloch, Beth Santilli, Zach Heidepriem and Mike Prada earned places on the All-County first team in cross country.
