Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore and Baltimore County.

Central District

Carjacking: A motorist was stopped in the 500 block of W. North Ave. early yesterday when another man forced his way into his car and ordered him to drive. When the victim stopped near his home in the 700 block of Mosher St., the man ordered the motorist to turn over his money. Moments later, two police officers responding to a robbery in progress arrested the suspect. Matarne Banks, 24, of the 1900 block of Homewood Ave, was charged with unarmed carjacking and attempted robbery.

Theft from vehicle: Computer equipment valued at $7,000 was stolen Tuesday from a Bell Atlantic of Virginia truck parked in the 500 block of St. Paul St.

Burglary: A videocassette recorder and a CPR tape, all valued at more than $400, were stolen Monday or Tuesday from an office at a city-operated child care resource center in the 1400 block of Mount Royal Ave.

Northern District

Theft from auto: A laptop computer, radio, 12 compact discs and a flip phone, all valued at more than $1,400, were stolen Tuesday from a 1996 Ford truck parked in the 3900 block of Falls Road.

Bank robbery: A man robbed the NationsBank in the 700 block of W. 40th St. on Tuesday after giving a teller a holdup note that said he had AIDS.

Northwestern District

Stabbing: A man was stabbed in the chest and neck Tuesday by a woman he knows during an incident at the victim's home in the 5500 block of Gwynn Oak Ave. The woman was being sought.

Western District

Robbery: A 26-year-old woman was in the 1300 block of Booth St. on Tuesday when a gunman placed the weapon to her head and robbed her of $36 and her shoes.

Carjacking: A female motorist was stopped in the 1100 block of N. Carrollton Ave. on Tuesday when a gunman forced her out of her maroon 1995 Nissan Sentra with tags DWL 067 and drove away.

Southwestern District

Robbery: A woman was in the 2900 block of Mosher St. on Tuesday when she was assaulted by a man who robbed her of $31 and keys.

Burglary: Appliances and other electronic equipment, all valued at nearly $4,000, were stolen Tuesday from an apartment in the 4500 block of Frederick Ave.

Baltimore County

White Marsh Precinct

Theft/arrests: Police arrested two females who attempted to leave the Hecht Co. store at Golden Ring Mall without paying for clothing valued at nearly $500 Tuesday.

Theft: A known female suspect entered a house in the 7900 block of Montrose Ave. on Tuesday and stole stereo equipment and a 27-inch television, all valued at more than $300.

North Point Precinct

Shoplifting: A man attempted to steal two battery pack chargers valued at $90 from Sears at East Point Mall on Tuesday and was released by security personnel when he provided identification. Theft charges against the man were pending.

Burglary: A coin collection valued at $5,000, videocassette recorder, 13-inch television, medicine, watch and a ring, all valued at nearly $6,000, were stolen Tuesday from a house in the 6800 block of Youngstown Ave.

Homicide suspect arrested: Donnie Charles Harper, 24, who was being sought on a warrant charging him with murder in a Jan. 23 slaying in East Baltimore, was arrested yesterday at a friend's home in Rock Hill, S.C. Tavon Sherod, 20, of the 4400 block of Raspe Ave., was fatally shot during an argument over money outside Chick Webb Recreation Center in the 600 block of N. Eden St.
