Town says farewell to trooper and welcomes his replacement

February 05, 1997

A change of the guard in New Windsor is continuing the town's "fine police tradition," said Mayor Jack A. Gullo Jr.

At its monthly meeting tonight, the town will honor Trooper John Dunn, who has patrolled the town and nearby Union Bridge for three years. Residents will also welcome Trooper Lenny Mays, Dunn's replacement.

The towns have shared a resident trooper for about seven years. Dunn transferred this month to the state police transportation department. Mays assumed his municipal duties 10 days ago.

"Lenny Mays comes highly recommended, by the barracks and by Dunn," Gullo said.
