Stuehler named Citizen of Year

January 23, 1997

Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce has chosen the president of La Fontaine Bleu Enterprises as the recipient of its 1996 Citizen of the Year Award.

Thomas E. Stuehler will receive the award Saturday at the chamber's presidential ball, which will be held from 7 p.m. until midnight, at La Fontaine Bleu in Glen Burnie, 7514 Ritchie Highway.

Stuehler is being recognized for approaching Freetown and Park elementary schools in the spring of 1993 with a program to promote attendance, good behavior and better grades. At the end of each marking period, students who did well in those areas were invited to a free lunch at La Fontaine Bleu. More than 700 children have attended.

Stuehler also treats children who have done well throughout the school year to a summer picnic at Downs Park with food, games and karaoke.

Washington man charged in theft of 5 men's suits

Police arrested a Washington man Tuesday and charged him with stealing five men's suits from Hecht's in Marley Station Mall.

Tiny Butler Medlock, 43, was charged with felony theft.

Mike Cavey, a store security guard, told police he saw a man take five suits -- valued at $1,795 -- from store displays about 7 p.m. The man wrapped the suits in a plastic bag and left without paying, police said.

When Cavey approached the man, the man dropped the suits and ran but was caught after a brief chase, police said.
