THE OLDE Brooklyn Park Improvement Association will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the cafeteria of Brooklyn Park Elementary School, 200 14th Ave.
Capt. Emerson Davis, commander of the county police force's Northern District, will speak on police activity in the community.
If schools are closed because of the weather, the meeting will be canceled.
The association is accepting dues of $4 a family from those who have not paid for the 1996-1997 year.
Help with income taxes
Free income tax assistance for senior taxpayers with relatively simple tax returns is available through the Volunteer Tax Assistance Program at the Brooklyn Park senior site in the old Brooklyn Park High School on Hammonds Lane. Appointments may be made starting Jan. 27.

Alliance to hold service
The Ministerial Alliance in Brooklyn-Curtis Bay is sponsoring a Service of Christians United at 2 p.m. today at Brooklyn Heights United Methodist Church, 110 Townsend Ave. The speaker will be Sam Wong, a United Methodist layman from China who will speak on missions in that country. Everyone is invited to attend.
Semester exams this week
North County High School news: Semester exams are scheduled Wednesday through Friday this week. Students will be dismissed at 11: 55 a.m. each day and will not receive lunch. If there is a two-hour delayed opening, students will follow the regular exam schedule and be dismissed at 1: 55 p.m.
The Band Boosters will sponsor a fund-raiser from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Roy Rogers fast-food outlet in the Cromwell Field Shopping Center. Proceeds will benefit the band's general fund.
All county public schools will be closed tomorrow for Martin Luther King's birthday.
Renovated nursery opens
Harbor Hospital Center news: The hospital has opened a newly renovated special care nursery for sick and premature babies. ,, The nursery offers a private area in which mothers can nurse their babies and two rooms for those who want to spend the night.
The hospital has two full-time neonatologists and round-the-clock pediatric coverage. Babies born after as little as 28 weeks' gestation can be cared for.
More than 250 babies a year are cared for in the nursery. Annual reunions are held for the staff and parents.

Sleep Center
Most of us take sleep for granted. However, one in four Americans has some sort of sleep disorder.
Harbor Hospital has opened a Sleep Center to provide comprehensive assessment of sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea and insomnia.
The center includes suites decorated to make people feel comfortable while they are being monitored overnight.
