Power schmoozing: They used to call it networking -- meeting and talking to people to establish business ties. Author Terri Mandell has another label, "Power Schmoozing." She notes that schmoozing is hard for many people, but suggests would-be schmoozers can get a conversation going by finding common ground with people at parties and meetings and start talking about it.

Business advice: Some advice for entrepreneurs from the Microsoft Small Business Council: First is for entrepreneurs to give themselves a raise -- they should be sure they're not under-charging their customers. Next: Take time to sit down and think about business, to really work on strategy. And take some more time to read newspapers, magazines and visit the Internet to find out what's going on.
