December 27, 1996

A Baltimore County man accused of auto manslaughter in the deaths of a man and his sister on the Liberty Dam bridge Monday in Eldersburg was freed on $100,000 bail yesterday, authorities said.

Ronald H. Fajkowski, 37, of Upperco had his bail lowered from $300,000 in Carroll County Circuit Court and was released on condition that he abstain from alcohol, not drive, and enroll in a home detention program within 48 hours.

Zelia A. Eckhart, 63, and Earl J. Landry, 67, both of Reisterstown, were pronounced dead at the scene after a truck driven by Fajkowski struck their Toyota head-on on Route 26.

Witnesses told police the truck was swerving from lane to lane before the 6: 18 p.m. collision.
