Homeowner stops man attempting to break in

A Davidsonville homeowner stopped a man who was trying to break into his house Tuesday and held him until police arrived.

Mark Lindsay O'Day, 19, of the 300 block of Whispering Oak Lane in Davidsonville was charged with fourth-degree burglary and trespassing.

Aaron Lee Atherholt, 29, of the 3600 block of Solomon's Island Road told police he heard someone trying to enter his front door shortly after 6 a.m.

Moments later, when the man walked through a rear door, Atherholt grabbed him and held him for police.

Gunman robs Virginia man near Annapolis Mall

A gunman robbed an Alexandria, Va., man of jewelry and money Tuesday on the parking lot of an Annapolis restaurant, county police said.

Al Mitchell, 60, told police he was getting into his vehicle, which was parked at Morrison's Cafeteria near Annapolis Mall, shortly before 1 p.m. when a man pulled out a small, dark handgun and took Mitchell's Rolex watch, a bracelet, ring and $170.
