Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore and Baltimore County.

Central District

Burglary: Several offices were ransacked Tuesday or Wednesday at the Baltimore Health Department in the 200 block of Guilford Ave. It was not immediately known if any property was missing. The Police Department's training academy is in the building but classes were not in session because of the holiday.

Northwestern District

Robbery/shooting: A 25-year-old Carroll County man was buying cigarettes at an Amoco station in the 5100 block of Reisterstown Road yesterday when a gunman robbed him of $100 and shot him in the left leg. The victim was in good condition yesterday at Sinai Hospital. Police said evidence suggests the men knew one another. A suspect was being sought.

Southern District

Theft: A 19-year-old man was riding his 21-speed mountain bike valued at more than $200 in the 1600 block of Marshall St. yesterday when another man grabbed the bike and rode away.

Robbery: Police were seeking a man known as "Mike" who struck a 32-year-old man in the face with brass knuckles Wednesday in the 200 block of S. Gilmor St. and took $20. Police said the victim owed the suspect money.

Robbery: A 37-year-old man was getting off an elevator Wednesday on the first floor at the Mount Clare Apartments in the 800 block of W. Pratt St. when another man struck him on the head from behind and robbed him of more than $250.

Southwestern District

Carjacking: A motorist was standing outside his 1996 Dodge Stratus, tags WAR 862, in the 3200 block of Washington Blvd. on Wednesday when he was pushed aside by another man, who drove the vehicle away.

Burglary: A videocassette recorder and a compact disc player, all valued at nearly $300, were stolen Wednesday from a house in the 600 block of N. Chapelgate Lane.

Stolen car: A 1997 Plymouth Neon with tags BRE 231 was stolen Tuesday or Wednesday in the 500 block of Beechfield Ave.

Stolen car: A 1991 Ford Escort with tags TWG 450 was stolen Wednesday in the 800 block of Kevin Road.

Cockeysville Precinct

Burglary: Thirty cartons of cigarettes valued at $500 were stolen Wednesday from Ridgely Wine & Spirits in the 1700 block of York Road.

Woodlawn Precinct

Officers assaulted/arrests: A mother and her son were arrested Wednesday by police who went to their home in the 6500 block of Dogwood Road to break up a fight between the two. Four officers were assaulted, none seriously. Charles Walton, 18, was charged with assaulting police officers, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Paula Boughan, 35, was charged with second-degree assault and hindering a police officer from performing his duty.

North Point Precinct

Burglary: Computer equipment valued at $2,000 was stolen yesterday from the Haverhill Construction Co. in the 8100 block of Lynhurst Road. Entry was gained through a window.

Burglary: Someone entered a storage shed in the 7400 block of School Lane yesterday and stole a chain saw and an all-terrain vehicle, all valued at nearly $5,700.

White Marsh Precinct

Burglary: Jewelry and a television, all valued at nearly $500, were stolen Wednesday from a house in the 6400 block of Hazelwood Ave. Police said a pillow case also was stolen and was used to carry the property.

Wilkens Precinct

Burglary: A man broke into his estranged wife's home on Nunnery Lane in Catonsville on Wednesday night and attacked her when he found another man there. He also attacked the man. Police said the husband, a resident of Westgate Lane in Southwest Baltimore City, was charged with burglary. Additional charges were pending.
