Woman robbed of her purse inside store

A Glen Burnie woman was robbed of her purse Monday evening while shopping at a Glen Burnie department store, county police said.

Laura Young, 45, of the 500 block of Newfield Road told police she was at the Value City store in the 7700 block of Ritchie Highway about 5: 30 p.m. when a man in a black jacket and jeans pulled her leather purse from her shoulder and ran from the store.

The thief escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash and several gift certificates, police said. Young was not injured. Police do not have a description of the thief.

Glen Burnie rental store robbed by gunman

A gunman robbed a Glen Burnie rental store of an undisclosed amount of money Monday, county police said.

An employee at Aarons Rental in the 7400 block of Ritchie Highway told police a man walked into the store about 8 a.m., drew a gun and demanded money.

The clerk complied and the robber handcuffed him in a back office and fled, police said.

Police do not have a detailed description of the robber.
