Northlandz

For a tour of the home of the Great American Railway and Doll Museum, visit Northlandz in Flemington, N.J. Opened last week, the new attraction offers a one-mile tour of a miniature world that has visitors following 125 trains through mountains, valleys, cities and villages. Along the way, browse through a rare doll collection and the LaPeep Dollhouse. You can also hear music from a 2,000-pipe theater organ and enjoy classic and contemporary paintings and prints in Northlandz's art galleries.

Northlandz is on Route 202, one mile north of the Flemington Circle. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays through Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 8: 30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Admission is $12.75 for adults and $8.75 for children. Call (908) 782-4022. It's "Time for Christmas" at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pa. Clocks, garden ornaments and other "timely" treasures measure the 1996 holidays in seconds, seasons and centuries. Thousands of poinsettias, towering evergreens, fragrant flowers and exotic plants fill four acres of gardens inside the newly renovated Conservatory. Daily concerts, fountain shows, and evening light displays add to the holiday magic.

The Christmas displays are on view through Jan. 5. The gardens are open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults ($6 on Tuesdays), $6 for ages 16-20, and $2 for ages 6-15. Call (800) 737-5500.
