Howard County police announced a $2,000 reward yesterday for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the fatal shooting of an Anne Arundel County man Saturday at Hawthorn Neighborhood Center in Columbia.

The victim, Sean Philip Wilson, 25, of the 1300 block of Hallock Drive in Odenton arrived at a Christmas party at the center around 12: 15 a.m. to pick up a cousin's friend. As he was leaving the party, Wilson was shot in the chest by a man he had exchanged words with, police said.

Police said yesterday that they were seeking a 21-year-old man for questioning.

"We are actively investigating," said Cpl. A. J. Bellido de Luna, a Northern District duty officer. "Our detectives are out pursuing leads as we speak."

Wilson's slaying was the fifth in Howard County this year.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 276-8888.
