Pin gives Eastern Tech title in second Dundalk Invitational Blankenship's win edges Chesapeake-AA by 2.5 pts.

Jamie Blankenship pinned Harford Tech's Dom Bonvegna in 3:19 of their 189-pound title bout to lift Eastern Tech over Chesapeake-Anne Arundel, 171-to-168.5, for the team crown in yesterday's second Dundalk Invitational.

With his fourth pin of the 16-team tournament (sixth of the year), the county and regional runner-up offset victories by the Cougars' No. 5 Carl Cicchetti (152, 6-0). Cicchetti had edged North County's WT Aye by 5-3, and No. 4 Chad Duncan (171, 8-0), a 12-2 winner over North County's Michawn Yuvenico (8-2).

"It's great to get the pin, but there was no pressure to do it," said Blankenship, who is 10-0. "Even if I'd have just won a decision, we'd have won [by .5.]"

While Blankenship was impressive, fifth-place Kenwood's All Metro state runner-up Chuck Jones (130, 12-0) was voted the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler. Jones, ranked No. 1 in Maryland, got his ninth pin of the year in 43 seconds over Chesapeake's Josh Boyd (6-2). Teammate Matt Myrick (160, 10-2) edged city runner-up Leonard Bridgeforth (8-1) by 11-6 on a take-down and a late three-point near-fall.

North County (third, 136 points) had three finalists but no champs as fourth-place Patterson's 209-pound Claude Marrow (9-0) won his heavyweight bout, 7-5, over North County's 260pound Tony Chase (7-2). Marrow's teammate, Charles Harris 9-0), won a battle of unbeat-, ens, 9-7, over Perry Hall's Jay Barzyk (4-1).

For sixth-place Dundalk, count ty and region runner-up Travis Williams (140, 13-0) got his eighth ninth and 10th pins before winning his title bout, 19-3, over Harford Tech's K.C. McQuiston (5-2).

No Carroll County teams were in the tournament.
