Link suspected in Edgewater, Crownsville burglaries

County police are investigating smash-and-grab burglaries in Edgewater and Crownsville early Tuesday that they think might be related.

The thefts were similar to four burglaries in Glen Burnie and Linthicum last Friday and Saturday in which thieves threw large rocks through store windows. Police said they are not sure whether all the burglaries are related.

Police said a burglar alarm sounded at Private Collection, in the 3100 block of Solomon's Island Road, shortly before 4 a.m. Tuesday. When officers arrived, they found the front window had been smashed. A store manager told police that suits and dresses had been stolen.

The manager did not give police an approximate value of the items stolen.

Moments later, another burglar alarm sounded at a High's convenience store in the 1300 block of Generals Highway.

A thief had thrown a cinder block through the front window of the store and stolen several cartons of cigarettes, police said.
